Vintage Smith Metal Arts executive desk pad, made in Buffalo, New York. A great example of classic American modernist office design with a clean, understated look.
Measures approximately 24” x 18” and features a black writing surface surrounded by a rounded metal edge. The underside is fully covered in black felt to help protect the desktop. Original Smith Metal Arts – 2835 Walden Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14225 maker’s label remains attached underneath.
The black writing surface does not appear to be leather and is believed to be vinyl or a similar material.
Good vintage condition with expected signs of age and use. The top has some surface wear, light scratches, marks and areas of spotting/discoloration, as shown in the photos. Metal edging also shows normal vintage wear. No major structural damage noted.
A substantial, well-made vintage desk accessory that would look great in a Mid-Century Modern, executive, industrial or contemporary office.
