Lampblack is essentially very finely divided carbon formed by collecting the soot from partially burnt materials. When handling this material wet, it is advised to add a percentage of alcohol to reduce the surface tension. The inject carbon black is a specially formulated gas black for Inkjet ink.
Standard Lamp BlackHighly stable, amorphous carbon black, which allows pigment seperation and is designed for use in powder coatings. Commonly used as a tinting carbon black, with pigment seperation for coatings for a variety of materials: plastics, metal castings, for accumulators, graphite parts, and a reactivity component in hard metals and ceramics. This grade is is made by burning heavy oil in a lampblack furnace, allowing air to feed the fire.
Premium Carbon BlackHighly structured pigment, designed for solvent and water based powder coatings, also in industrial and tinting applications. Commonly used as water based printing inks in gravure packaging and screen printing processes. Premium carbon black can also be used in solvent based liquid inks. It is used in paints, impact transfer printing, plastics and coatings. This grade is made by vaporising heavy oil in a hydrogen rich carrier gas. This is also known as the Degussa gas black process.
Carbon Black InkjetEasily dispersed, provides magnificent print density, high coverage and improved smear resistance. This is the ideal Carbon Black for Aqueous Inkjet inks, along with massstone colouring in pure black coatings (e.g. automotive base coats), tinting in grey coatings and paints, light tinting for metalic effects and wood glazing.
