Used, working. Powers on; GNSS tracking and an autonomous position fix were verified outdoors (39 satellites, PDOP 0.9, 5 constellations). Licensed options per Trimble\'s license record: Precise Rover, INS (IMU tilt compensation) and GLONASS/Galileo/BeiDou/L5, all perpetual; rover only (no base license). Tilt calibration expired. Cosmetic wear and scratches. Wi-Fi/Bluetooth model (SPS986-WFBT), Internal radio = No; RTK corrections via your own NTRIP/VRS or an external radio. Software maintenance expired 2024-08.

Used equipment with clear signs of field use. The yellow antenna body has scuffs, scratches and general soiling, but there are no cracks or missing parts and the antenna dome has no major damage. The 5/8 inch base thread is clean with no damaged threads, the 7-pin LEMO connector has all pins straight, and the coaxial connector on the base has a good center pin, good threads and a weather cap. The battery compartment latch is stiff and needs two hands to open, but it does open and close. The TSC7 controller powers up and its touch screen responds normally.

Operation Check

Power: turns on with an approx. 2-second press; all 3 antenna batteries start the unit individually. Also powers up with no battery from the AC adapter through the supplied LEMO Y-cable
Charging: both bays of the charging dock charge (green LED); both TSC7 batteries start the controller individually; TSC7 charge lamp lights on the AC adapter
TSC7: boots to the Windows desktop, touch works; Trimble Access 2024.01 launches, opens projects/jobs, shows the map and measure screens. UI is in Japanese; English is available in the Access language list and was selected during our test
GNSS tracking (outdoors): 36-39 satellites with PDOP 0.8-0.9. GPS 9, GLONASS 5, Galileo 9, BeiDou 12 and QZSS 3 were tracked with L1/L2C/L5 signal levels shown in the Access Satellites list
Position fix (outdoors): Solution = Autonomous with latitude, longitude and height displayed (39 satellites, PDOP 0.9)
Receiver settings read in Access: firmware 6.10, hardware version 4.5, boot version 5.45, 672 channels. Internal radio = No. RTX supported; xFill subscription shown with expiry 2113-01-02. OmniSTAR installed but HP/VBS subscriptions expired (2018/2012). Firmware warranty expired 2022-06-01
Receiver status: GPS time, GPS week and internal temperature read back from the receiver
Tilt sensor / eBubble: Access recognises the tilt sensor as SPS986; the eBubble window opens and the bubble moves when the antenna is tilted. Calibration status shows \'Tilt calibration expired\' (we did not run the calibration)
Controller link: the receiver\'s Wi-Fi link needs a rod antenna on the base coaxial connector (2 supplied). With it fitted the link held at over 100 m outdoors; without it the connection drops immediately. Bluetooth is paired, but a Bluetooth-only connection could not be conclusively confirmed, so plan on the Wi-Fi link or a cable
License: signed in with our own (free) Trimble ID; receiver connection and satellite tracking worked. The controller-tied perpetual General Survey license is active (Full, no expiry)
Software maintenance: expired 2024-08-28, so IBSS (Trimble internet base station service), Trimble Connect/cloud sync and software upgrades are not available. The stored RTK survey style uses \'Internet connection / IBSS\' as its rover data link, so a survey could not be started in our test; set up a survey style with your own NTRIP/VRS service or an external radio
LEDs: normal (battery green, Wi-Fi orange, satellite orange flashing while tracking, Bluetooth flashing); no start-up beep sounds. The antenna mounts and stands correctly on the supplied 5/8 inch pole

Radio: Wi-Fi/Bluetooth configuration (SPS986-WFBT). Receiver settings show Internal radio = No, so there is no internal UHF radio
Previous owner\'s information: described as a used working unit sold as-is, with photos showing 32 satellites and PDOP 1.5 outdoors on a pole with the TSC7 connected. Calibration/adjustment was not performed by the previous owner

The Trimble SPS986 is a compact, rugged GNSS smart antenna that integrates the GNSS receiver, GNSS antenna, battery and communications into a single 5/8 inch pole-mountable unit for construction site positioning, field layout and survey work, licensed as a Precise Rover with IMU tilt compensation (no base license). It tracks multiple constellations and supports network RTK corrections; the L1 phase center offset from the bottom of the antenna is 14.44 cm (18.44 cm when used with the Trimble quick release). This is the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth configuration (SPS986-WFBT), so corrections are received via network corrections (NTRIP/VRS) over Wi-Fi or the controller\'s internet connection, or via an external radio on the serial port.
