This is an electric bell.
I beleive it was used as a doorbell, with a 5v transformer but could be mistaken. It is in good shape. It was tested on simple 6V DC battery with alligator clips and produced a bright and cheery ring. Does it ring different frequencies with different voltage? No idea. Also no attempt was made to polish it up but you could easily do so. The leads inside are just two screws, the positive and the ground. Remove the front plate, screw it into your wall or installation (two holes), attach the two wire bell leads, snap the cover back into place. It might also run on AC, not sure.
Meta fact: It is an estate donation from a neighbor who took it down because it reminded her of someone calling her. She\'s a sweet old lady name Jane who danced ballet, so if you wants Jane\'s bell, offer on. She\'d like that. Maybe also you FRC first robotics people could even wire it into your bot, that could be fun. Put it on the test circuit for pre-runs. Not sure how many amps this things pulling but the down-transformer in the basement was just a tiny block.
