Pair of antique hand-worked glass laboratory stirring rods in the Bristol or Nailsea tradition, 18th-19th century. Each has a pale blue-green color, tightly spun shaft, substantial rounded stirring head, and smaller rounded terminal. These are well documented in the British scientific collection and listed as 18th/19th century almost identical design.
The spiraling continues along the full length of each rod and expands across both terminals. Slight variations in shaft diameter, dimensions, weight, and finish, clearly hand spun. They're heavy and tactile, nice to hold. Original pontil and finishing scars remain visible where the glass was detached and lightly ground during manufacture, not polished. They're beautiful, but they were tools.
MeasurementsEach rod will be individually wrapped and packed together in a reinforced gusseted box for safe transit. Ships by USPS, UPS, or FedEx Ground. Typically ships within 1 business day. Rates to Alaska and Hawaii differ from continental US; please message for quote. International shipping available through 's Global Shipping Program.
