FM radio with LCD screen

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a DIY electronic kit for an FM receiver that has an LCD screen to see the frequency you are on. Obviously there are plenty around that use dials, and lots of cheap radios use a 'scan' button. But I want to be able to see the frequency and lock it there...

Alternatively if there is a way to add an LCD screen to a scan radio, that may help, but something tells me that would require a chip and programming...


Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

There are lots of small transistor radio's that already have such a display. It is a lot cheaper to get an `of the shelf version` than to build it your self. This needs a radion, display drivers, frequency counters an an LCD screen. When you want to measure the frequency you are on, you need to measure the VCO-frequency and add the frequency-delta between VCO and input frequency.

So a lot of stuff and effort to display the frequency you are on. Take a look at dealextreme, they ship it for free...

But if you don't want to use a scan button, try a car-radio. They ar available for around 40 dollars.
