relay, motor and pushbutton issue..

Hi, I am new to these forums but have been dabbling in electronics for about 5 or 6 months now, my problem is with a circuit I am working on currently which when a pushbutton is pressed it triggers a 555 timer to reverse a relay for 5-10 seconds thus reversing a motor. The circuit is fairly straightforward, its based on an experiment(robotic cart) from make electronics book. I have attached the schematic and some pics of my circuit in a file below. I can currently get the motor to reverse but it wont switch back! There is a more detailed description in the file attached. Any help would be great, I am badly stuck, and really want to get this circuit to work for me.

Ok, as of yesterday i have been able to get the relay to flip back after a couple of seconds
here is the layout, i have a 100 k resistor off of pin 7, the 555 timer flips the 6v relay but the power
supply has to be 12v to flip back. When the motor is hooked up it wont flip back!
