General Radio 758-A Wavemeter 5-400 MHz NOS in Original Box Navy 1952 Ser 5007:
$175.00

General Radio Type 758-A Wavemeter, serial number 5007, in the original General Radio red-and-gold box with the factory Standardizing Laboratory inspection certification tag still attached and unbroken.

This is an absorption-type wavemeter reading directly from 5 MHz to 400 MHz in a single band, achieved by varying capacitance and inductance simultaneously on one shaft. The stacked capacitor plates and helical inductor are visible under the clear protective cover. A flashlight lamp serves as the resonance indicator. These were the standard method of checking transmitter and oscillator frequency before digital frequency counters became affordable.

Military procurement item. The box label reads:

WAVEMETER Ser# 5007

758-A

Order No. NOBSR-63066

General Radio Co., Cambridge, Mass.

Date Packed 11/52

NOBSR is a Bureau of Ships contract prefix, and the label carries the Navy anchor stamp. Serial number on the instrument dial matches the box label.

Condition notes: bakelite panel and dial plate are clean with sharp, legible markings. Knob is intact. Internal coil and plate assembly shows expected age patina on the copper. Boxes show shelf wear, edge separation, and label chipping consistent with 70+ years of storage. Please review all photos, they are part of the description.

Ships securely packed. Original box will be shipped inside an outer carton with padding, not used as the shipping container.
