Electric tiny moving mecanism

Hi, I'm looking for a way to moves four small objects in up position and lock thems up(all four objects need to be really close together,
around 1/2 cm2 on surface for all four, depth of the whole macanism could be around 2 cm and the device can be long, not large).

It could be small pins or wires or balls of some sorts going up of around 1 or 2 mm.

I was thinking of some sort of "bistable solenoid" but it needs to be really small.

Maybe moving a pin under a other object to make it go up while being locked by the pin. But it needs to be bistable(no electricity required to stay in both, up and down position).

I'm totally newb. to electronic parts and what actually commonly exist so any king of help and ideas on the tech I could use would be really appreciated.

I'm not sure I understand your explanation. Can you post a sketch of what you're envisioning?

How fast do they need to move during changes?

The technology of the bistable solenoid is more advanced than that used in simple linear devices.
