some help with LM3914

Hello
I want to use the LM3914 in order to do a battery tester
the batter is good for me from 12-10V ,
I have read the datasheet - and didn't understand how I calculate the resistor

I want to connect only 5 LEDs so very led will show me a down by 0.5V.

can you help\guide me?

maybe show me the equation of it?
