repeat circuit timer

Hi all, Im working on a project at university trying to get my head around the electronics part of a design I'm doing that involves building a repeat timer that turns on a 1.5v battery powered air pump for 15 minutes then off for 45 minutes continuously. If anyone can give me any advice or point me in the direction of a good website to check out that would be great.
