When you have the circuit running, what is then the [i]actual[/i] voltage [i]measured[/i] across the battery terminals? Or across the connected 12 V adapter output?
What is the current rating in [mA] of the adapter? It's usually printed on the bottom side, or engraved into the plastic.
And what is the battery model number, and rating?

The adapter is 12V 200ma
The batteries that I would have used are 9V 250mAh Make: Tenergy
the 24Vdc adapter that im thinking about is 600ma connected to 12 LEDs
