Simple NiMh discharger

I want to be able to discharge a AAA NiMh battery..(individual cell) ..down to .9 volts at approx 150- 200 mah draw.
I was going to simply use a 2.7 ohm resistor with a 1N4001 diode..however, a friend said that this would not be accurate enough due to the diode...that the battery could drop to .7 volts. I'd like to keep this as simple (inexpensive) as possible. I'd ultimately like to make a number of them.
Any ideas as to how to accomplish this?
