[New to circuits] Need information on TRIAC usage

I wanted to build a AC motor controller using a TRIAC. I have a small AC 220V, 20 RPM motor (I do not have the specification of this motor).
And I have BTA12-600B ST make TRIAC (12 Amps, 600V). Here is the specification of the TRIAC (http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/data...0/109542_1.pdf)

Can I use this TRIAC to control this motor ?

Check how many Amps the small motor draws. if less than that of the Triac you can safely use it.
