I just tried it out and it worked very well. I first tried it our on my RV stove top by briefly turning on the gas without lighting. It immediately started flashing and beeping. I can't vouch for the longevity of the product as it's new. How it holds up I'll only know in time. I would suggest that everyone owning an RV keep one of these handy. No, it does not, repeat, does not take the place of at RV propane alarm (which should be replaced after a number of years [I think 5]) this tester, however, is very handy for testing fittings and valves. UPDATE: I left this item in my camper and didn't take the battery out of it. Well when I went to use it a couple of years later, the battery had corroded and ruined the unit. Also the rubber ring where the two parts join had discinerated. So good product but can't vouch for longevity ... UPDATE After using this product for a couple of years I went to use it and found that the batteries had corroded and it was useless. Even putting in new batteries didn't help.
