hi i want to learn microcontroller and want to use a GSM modem with it. can anyone advise where i can find some tutorials or code. more over where can i buy some source code for this.

If you want to learn about the micro controller then try out the basic theory of it by website and before that you can refer the book for that. But you have to search for the GSM technology so you can get the theory what you want.

I have read one article about this in one of the electronics magazines. I think you can start learning with microcontroller serial communication and it will be good to use tx,rx simple interface with gsm module .

Micro controller is a single integrated circuit. It has processor core, memory and programming section in it. GSM modem accepts a SIM card and operates just like a mobile phone. It is used for data information. There must be a command through which can support GSM modems.

You should learn AT commands for GSM communication. First connect your GSM modem with your PCs serial port then send AT commands to it using Terminal/Hyperterminal, in this way you can learn the commands and check the status of modem.
