Zif to Zif connectors and long (>0.3m) zif cable

Postby engel » Thu Sep 18, 2014 6:10 pm

Hello:

Thank you in advance!

I am trying to connect a flexboard adapter (zif input) with a dc motor which has an 8 circuit (0.5 mm pitch) flexboard. My problem is that I can't mount the two anywhere close to one another (e.g. I have to put the adapter about 1 ft away from the motor). Why can't I seem to find a zif to zif adapter (I guess it would be f/f) like you would use for connecting two serial cables etc. I really don't want to cut or solder directly to the dc motor flexboard since it was very expensive.

Second, why can't I find anyone selling ~0.3m, 8 circuit, 0.5 mm pitch flex cable? Only one company that was selling had a minimum order of 500. Or others only sell 1 mm pitch at those lengths.

Finally, Is there any way to crimp instead of solder onto the other side of a single zif connector (http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDet ... 52746-0871).

Any suggestions?

Thanks again,
Engel
