Need advise for a project

I need advise on how to solve what I believe is a simple problem.
The sole purpose of the design is to monitor a lead which will be used for a security application. I need a way to monitor that the lead is still intact, and if disconnected, or cut, I need a switch to close passing a small amount of current thru a second system.

a dual pole relay would do the trick.It has 2 outputs,1 is on when the primary is on and one is off.When the primary switches off the poles are reversed
