How to start?

I got started learning about oscillators,there is plenty of information on the net(eg wikipedia) and then progressed to power supplies.These are probabably the 2 fundamental things that apply to all electronics(they are what make them work).You can also set your first projects as building your own workshop supply and function generator,2 important tools you will need.
Thats how I started and now I am working with PIC processors and all learnt off the internet.The more you get into it the more you want to learn.
