How to determine frequency?

Hi,

I have being working on oscillators, when I was analyzing an issue I found that the oscillators is generating more frequency than tuned (5.8kHz instead 5kHZ).
This frequency is connected to IN1 / CLK1 of CPLD. Now I want to know, whether this effects the functionality of CPLD but it seems our module is functionally ok.
I have two questions here :
1.how the clock frequency of CPLD is determined, is it based on the required speed we need ??
2.What happens if the frequency exceeds the specified ??

Look up the data sheet for the CPLD to find the permitted frequency range for the oscillator. This is the nominal range, and some samples may work beyond those limits - but that cannot be guaranteed.

You may select any frequency you like provided is within limits.

4 Easy Way to determine frequency
1.f = V / λ
2.Example: λ = 322 nm
322 nm x (1 m / 10^9 nm) = 3.22 x 10^-7 m = 0.000000322 m
3.Divide the velocity of the wave, V, but the wavelength converted into meters, λ, in order to find the frequency, f.
4.After completing the previous step, you will have completed your calculation for the frequency of the wave. Write your answer in Hertz, Hz, which is the unit for frequency.

using "f = V / λ" you can find the frequency.
where, v=velocity and
λ=wavelength.

Frequency is the number of wave cycles or revolutions per second. The Formula for period (T) in terms of frequency is given by,

f = 1/T or

If we consider any wave in terms of velocity and wavelength the Frequency Formula is given by,

f = V / lamda
