Powering electrical components from CD drive

Postby meesa » Tue Nov 20, 2012 3:59 am

I disassembled a CD driver the other day for the magnents, but I started noticing some cool things that I'd like to know how they work, and how to power them. These include the CD spinner, the laser, and what appears to be the motor that controls the drive going in and out. (It's a helix bar) I've attached pictures of each of the items. Does anybody have some insight of how to hook them up, and with the spinner, how to put it together, and what's positive/negative?

Note, I know litle to nothing about electronics, so please keep it simple, assuming I know nothing. I've tried doing research, but either it's not out there, or I don't know what to look for.

The last one: that is three wires that I unraveled from the wheel thing, and the "bowl" piece of metal has a magnet that wraps the inside.

Thanks.
