Need help in designing 5v mobile charger with battery backup

Postby Meera Sharma » Thu Jul 23, 2015 6:37 pm

Hello friends, for my final year project im going to design a mobile charger which is powered by a renewable source (say 12v DC Wind generator) with 6v battery for backup power.
im using 2 linear voltage regulators such as LM7806 for charging the 6v backp bt from the wind generator and LM 7805 for charging the mobile phone which requires 5v..

When the charger is connected im facing the heating issues with the mobile even it shows "charging"
Please help me to design a better circuit !!

1. Is the normal charger for the mobile device just a regulated 5VDC wall wart?
2. The 7805 requires about 7V on the input to regulate a 5V output. 6V won't do it.
3. I don't understand the output configuration of the 7805. Is there supposed to be a connection dot on the crossed wires between the output, the junction of R2/R3, C2, and the USB?
