Wheel of FORTUNE HELP

Postby garage100 » Sun Nov 02, 2014 10:01 pm

The above circuit was built on a matrix without transistors ( 2n3904 ) .
The Circuit worked fine until the transition to the solder board which included all the parts. I checked the board three times .
I wanted to restrict the movement of four LEDs , so I shorted leg 10 to 15 in 4017 .
In addition I wanted to control the timing and changed the capacitor connected to 555 to 100U and added variable resistors.
The problems :
1. After switching to a solder board the rotation stopped at the same group of LEDs repeatedly. the randomality has disappeared . Is there a mistake in a circuit attached ? Why doesn't it stops with a another group of leds in every rotation round?
2 . The LEDs are piranha 5 mm 3v . When the group of blue LEDs turn on, the LED connected to the resistor(150) is flashing. Is the LED broken or is there a problem in 2n3904 ?

I'm really desperate
please help

Hello, sorry but you have not supplied enough information to establish what is wrong. Can you supply this info?

1. What is the battery voltage?
2. You have shown 3 pots with their wipers not connected to anything. What is the overall resistance of each one when connected in circuit?
3.You have mentioned a group of blue LEDs, but you have not indicated which of the groups it is. What 4017 pin is driving the transistor for the LED that is flickering?

You need to mark up all components (R1, C1 etc) so that we know which one we are talking about.

Thank you for your replay.
The supply voltage 9v.
I managed to fix the circuit.
How can replace the push button with the finger touch circuit attached?

Firstly, what did you find wrong with the circuit?

I had to replace each group of LEDs to parallel with 100 ohm reistor.
Also connecting the wiper pots.

How can I replace the push button with a finger switch?

There are several ways of doing it. At the moment you are switching the feed to the timing elements of the 555. I think that way slows down the 'rotation' as it nears the end.

Is that so, and if so is it a feature you want to retain?

Can you tell me what is the in-circuit resistance of the pot connected to the base of the BC537C of your original circuit?
