Diverting a mechanical switch into electronic

Postby Nagash » Mon Nov 05, 2012 6:24 pm

Hi!

I am new here and a newbie, so greetings to all.

I would like to change a mechanical switch on a golf cart into a simple FWD N REV switch. I guess this should be done via relays, but I am not sure at all.

Also, there are some small switch connected to the mechanical switch for making the cart moving forward or backward via a relay. These switches should be diverted as well so everything is in synch.

One of the challenge ( I guess it is one!!) is that the cart operate on 6 x 6V batteries (in series) and I think the initial current goes on the 100A range.

I attach the circuit diagram. The mechanical switch is on the top right and the back switch (and either the main or the stop switch are on the mechanical one with hinge roller lever to turn on either the back or the other one).

What do you think?

Thank you for reading this!

Frank
